3/10: An Unbiased Review I admit...
Tuesday, August 17, 2010

An Unbiased Review I admit I am a fan of some Disney movies and not a fan of Demi Lovato. I went to see this movie expecting to be disappointed in her. The only reason people even saw this movie was because it had Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato in it, for all they cared, the movie would have been named "Hong Kong Kung Fu Chury" & They still would have seen this. So for the same reasons people go to see "Snakes on a Plane", to see some actual snakes on a actual plane. This movie was made to serve the actresses and did no significance to the audience. Its basically them bouncing and popping around the camera. I came out disappointed in 3 totally different things. This film had 3 major flaws and Demi's acting ability or lack thereof was the least of this films worries and truthfully, though I don't think Demi can act her way out...

2/10: Yawn... As a father, I...

Yawn... As a father, I'm subjected to all kinds of fare, which I realize is not meant for my age demographic. That being said, I try to watch material with an open, yet subjective eye and find the redeeming quality in it.Sadly, the storyline wasn't original and the producers opted to use the recycled formulaic 'fish-out-of-water' plot, ie. girl from (insert nationality, Atlantis, background, culture here) and the difficulties and (although not found here) funny situations they encounter trying to 'blend-in' in a different society. Some movies (Splash and Pretty Woman) did a fairly reasonable job of conveying this successfully.Basically, a princess from make-believe island nation is rescued after a deviant, power-hungry general attempts to overthrow the government before she can become it's future queen. She's swept away to Louisiana and hidden, making an attempt to disguise herself as a typical teenager. Of course, she has a difficult...

3/10: wow what a boring movie...
Saturday, June 27, 2009

wow what a boring movie I though this movie was decent. A good heart warming story but really over done. The four biggest let downs for me were:1. i though that it would have more action, sword fights something! it was oh a sword threw her crown, carters dad pushes some guy down, and they run away. yep pretty boring.2. since i live in Louisiana i had hopes of seeing some places I've been in this movie. As i watched this movie the more evident that it wasn't shot in Louisiana. ex: we don't have mountains in Louisiana, and that may palm trees, and u cant live that close to a swamp. Then my friend told me that it was shot in Puerto Rico. i was disappointed in that.3.the movie was really predictable. oh a princess gets assassinated , goes to school like a normal kid, fits in better then the girl who has...

8/10: Pretty Good for Disey I...

Pretty Good for Disey I actually thought this was one of the better Disney channel movies in a while. it brought me back to those days when Disney movies were actually watchable. the movie actually had some plot and the acting of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez was very good. i liked how this movie wasn't completely about girls and boys and love, it shows people that there are other things in life. my favorite part was when Selena's character rejected Robert Adamson's character, (you may recognize his name he plays Charles on "Lincoln Heights") i thought this put out a great message to girls everywhere. there were some things that i didn't like though. i thought the movie could have been more suspenseful if it were a little bit longer, i think that all Disney movies being an hour and 45 minutes is getting old, this movie had a lot of potential and i feel...

5/10: Good Waste of 1 hour...
Saturday, June 27, 2009

Good Waste of 1 hour and 45 minutes: Spoilers. I was looking forward to watching this movie, mainly because it stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. I was neither disappointed nor impressed. As all Disney Channel movies--with the exception of Motocrossed--the plot was mediocre: princess is in danger, she is taken into hiding and then forced to endure the vast perils of a normal life. There is bowling, chaos at a yogurt shop (which has been done to death in other shows) and of course a school dance. The acting was OK. Demi is at her best when she is being helped by someone. Selena is the better actor. She plays the sullen, down-to-earth girl spot on. In fact, I loved the movie's first scene and I think Selena nailed it. I really hated the entire Princess Protection Program headquarters scene. I thought the main boss lady was very cartoonish and exaggerated as was the...
