5/10: This show fell off a...

This show fell off a cliff This show started out really strong. Freddie Highmore was a breath of fresh air and this promised to be a welcome departure from the endless trope of medical procedural. His father figure and mentor, Dr. Glass, was a lovable curmudgeon and was the only person who could get through to Shawn. At the start of the show, Dr. Glass was told that he was wholly responsible for Shawn as a doctor.Cut to the fourth season. Dr. Glass has pretty much shunned Shawn, then married a terrible woman who is clearly about thirty years younger than he is. Shawn's girlfriend, who was quirky and fun at first, is constantly complaining every single thing that he does wrong, and shows absolutely no affection towards him aside from a few super cringeworthy sex scenes. Shawn started out awkward and inappropriate around patients, but the viewer still saw a protagonist that they wanted to root for...

3/10: I want to be sick...

I want to be sick at this hospital Look, I like some of the actors. But the show just gets more ridiculous with each episode. I've read other reviews about how "realistic" the show is.Yes, I want to be sick in this hospital. EVERY Dr is an expert at EVERYTHING. And they are all surgeons too. They can ALL perform EVERY surgery: brain surgery, heart surgery, transplants, plastic surgery ...Sure. That's "realistic". If it were, why are there specialists in all aspects of medicine in our everyday lives? Can't they all just be called Dr, and do everything imaginable.Show would be twice as good if they just gave each Dr a specialty. But let's not forget the "wokeness", political, and social commentary. It's gets worse every episode. Let's show how oppressed these HIGHLY educated, and likely rich, ethnic Drs are. And let's see ... pregnant transgenders?? And let's not forget the...

Noticeable Change in Show I ate up seasons 1-3, binge-watching. I laughed, smiled and cried. But in S4 there was a noticeable shift in the show. A great character, Dr Melendez, was killed off; new characters were brought in; and Dr Shaun Murphy, for whom the show is aptly named, seems to have taken a back seat to become a secondary storyline. Clare has become the headliner and developing the new characters is the goal. Shaun just weaves in and out of their weekly dilemmas. We rarely see any meaningful interaction between him and Leah or Dr Glassman, once both being pivotal characters in his social and medical development. His autism is treated more as a "quirk" now than a blessing/challenge. I feel like the show has erased the emotional connection they worked so hard to gain with their audience! So for me, it's lost its appeal as it no longer predicates upon "The Good Doctor...

10/10: Absolutely Amazed with this show...

Absolutely Amazed with this show I, for one.... can not Believe the reviews I have read. It is totally unfathomable that people have such narrow minds. First off. It is a television show. Nothing more People! It is a refreshing insight to all that autistic children, adults face on a daily basis. It is thoughts of what is possible for ANYONE with any type of disability they may face to have a positive outlook for what they stand for and fight for at any given time in their life. Although, it is extreme... It is the possibility that something greater can happen in the life of someone with disabilities no matter how great or small. I find a learning experience in every episode I have watched and that is to learn more about autism from every aspect and have compassion enough to care ... as a human being. I would be very sad if this show doesn't continue and show...

3/10: Absurd There are some good...
Tuesday, June 1, 2021

Absurd There are some good episodes in this series, but it has some ridiculously far fetched undertones.First, it appears that EVERY doctor on the show can perform any possible surgery known to man, including groundbreaking surgeries never performed before. Never happen in a hospital ...Second, EVERY doctor is an expert at diagnosing every possible disease known to man. Never happen ...Third, a recent episode had this entire staff going to Guatemala. Based on premise #1 and #2 above, the entire hospital would shut down, since they all perform every surgery/diagnosis that comes in ...Fourth, EVERY doctor is an expert at radiology - reading ex-rays, and performing MRIs. Never happen in a hospital ...I can go on. At least TRY to make it believable. Worst case, have each doctor have a speciality, like real life.
