8/10: Fun, funny & entertaining
Thursday, October 28, 2021

Before Annabelle of the "Conjuring" movie series, there was another terrifying doll. After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begins to expose the town's hypocrisies and secrets.Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky's past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.Overall, this is a fun and entertaining show that breathes new life into the character of Chucky whilst staying true to the tone of the original movie. A great young cast. Surprisingly excellent cinematography and a playful soundtrack make this a fun watch, especially for the Halloween season

5/10: It's Brad Dourif's show

Without a doubt Brad Dourif and his performance as Chucky is the main draw of the show even though sadly the character has degenerated a bit into Freddy territory with all the humor. It would be nice to have some actual horror and fear instead of the usual Hollywood political agenda. The same story could have been done without all that but Hollywood just can't help themselves. Another thing is that there is no one to root for to battle against Chucky. In fact because all the characters are so unlikeable you actually end up rooting FOR Chucky..That's not good. I hope the show hurries and gives us Andy and get the show going..Also since they're not doing it with Chucky maybe bring in someone who can challenge Chucky and bring some much needed terror back into the franchise

9/10: Yes

I based my 9/10 rating on the pilot episode only. There are a lot of jump scares but I actually love those. The show does a great job of keeping you in suspense. It was casted well. The series is better than the last 4 remakes of the chucky movies. Don't get me started on the last chucky movie that didn't even look or sound like him. The series started just in time for halloween so I'm digging those fall halloween vibes. I'm liking where they are taking this series. I was worried when i first heard about a chucky tv series, But now that I have seen the first one, I'm confident that this series will last. The writers, producers, special effects team, and actors are all great. Hopefully the rest of the season Don't let us down

7/10: Pretty good, but

The concept is good, and it's always fun to see Chucky. I'm hoping this series expands and extends beyond the characters in the first two episodes. While he seems to have an impressive acting resume, the actor who plays the orphaned young man and is the central character is way too over the top in his reactions and facial expressions. At times I feel like I'm watching a Kristen Wiig character in a Telenovela sketch on SNL. I understand the character is traumatized, but it's just off-putting. If he's going to be the central character for the whole series, I hope he matures and chills out sooner than later

6/10: Nice idea, but just a bit off

The concept of an episodic series is good, and it seems like they are not going to drag out the story. Some very decisive actions have occurred just in the first episode. The big drawback for me? Some of the action occurs at a school. As a public school teacher, I can tell you that the writer has only seen schools on a screen and never in real life. The school scenes border on fantasy. Also, more points removed for profanity. The inclusion of certain words to make the series "edgy" is simply ridiculous. Oh, look! They said _ _ _ _! What a stroke of genius! That's never been done before
